NFL Week 7 Power Rankings

1)Atlanta Falcons (6-0) Previous Rank 1 - Coming out of the bye week, the undefeated Falcons have a nice stretch of games ahead of them as they will face the Eagles this week followed by the Cowboys and Saints.

2) Houston Texans (6-1) Previous Rank 2 - The Texans dominated the Ravens in a 43-13 victory. Arian Foster rushed for 98 yards and 2 scores on only 19 carries. Matt Schaub threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions. The Texans enter their bye week with a record of 6-1 and host Buffalo next week.

3)New York Giants (5-2) Previous Rank 4 - So the Giants failed to stop RG3 in a last minute drive. No big deal as Eli Manning came out and connected with a streaking Victor Cruz for a 77 yard touchdown to seal a victory. The Giants get a chance to even up the score as they travel to Dallas this week to face Tony Romo and his high powered offense (just kidding). The Giants are the third best passing team in the league and Manning has a QBR 76.9. Defensively the Giants rank 21st in passing yards allowed and 23rd in rushing yards allowed.

4)San Francisco 49ers (5-2) Previous Rank 5 - I didn't watch the game on Thursday night but the score ended up exactly how I thought it would very low as the 49ers and Seahawks both have stingy defenses and not so high powered offenses. San Francisco's defense ranks first in passing yards and 11th in rushing yards allowed. The 49ers managed to get another win holding Russell Wilson to only ninth completions and 113 passing yards and completely shutting out the Seahawks in the second half. Frank Gore continues to be the offensive main weapon contributing 182 total yards. The 49ers travel to Arizona to play the Cardinals next Monday night.

5)Chicago Bears (5-1) Previous Rank 7 - Jay Cutler is showing leadership and for the first time and the Chicago fans seem to be fully supportive of the once controversial QB. The real story in Chicago is their defense it is playing very physical forcing turnovers week after week and putting points on the board. The Bears defense had no problem stopping Megatron holding him to only three receptions on 11 targets. The Bears host the struggling Carolina this Sunday.

6)Baltimore Ravens (5-2) Previous Rank 3 - Things are starting too look bad for the Ravens. Losing Ray Lewis for the season, the defense struggled to stop Texans running game. Joe Flacco looked flustered in the pocket as he was constantly under pressure and was sacked four times for negative 26 yards. Falling behind quickly the Ravens only handed the ball off to Ray Rice a total of nine times. Baltimore's defense is now ranked 23rd in passing yards and 27th in rushing yards allowed. Baltimore currently has a two game lead over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North division. They will get a much needed bye week to regroup. Ravens will return to face Cleveland and Oakland.

7)New England Patriots (4-3) Previous Rank 6 - I know they got the win Patriots fans. The Pats really  deserve to get a bump down this week for having to crawl back into a game that involved quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow. Also they get a #STUPIDSANCHEZAWARD for giving up 403 yards to a weaponless offense. On a bright note, Tom Brady and the Patriots are now 4-3 and rank fifth in passing offense and fifth in rushing offense. The Patriots offense is well balanced and have had no problem getting leads however their defense is letting opponents crawl back in too often. The Pats travel to London this week to face the Rams.

8)Green Bay Packers (4-3) Previous Rank 8 - Jordy Nelson is back to form catching eight passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Rodgers just had another great game of the season throwing for 342 yards, three TDs and and a near perfect QBR of 95.5. Rodgers now has 19 TDs and only four interceptions. Green Bay hosts Jacksonville this Sunday.

9)Minnesota Vikings (5-2) Previous Rank 9 - The Vikings got a win over the Cardinals despite an awful performance from QB Christian Ponder. Ponder completed only eight passes for 58 yards, one TD and two INTs. Adrain Peterson carried the ball for 131 rushing yards and a TD. The deciding factor in this game was the Vikings interception for a TD in the third quarter. The Vikings host the Buccaneers coming off a very tough loss this past week.

10)Denver Broncos (3-3) Previous Rank 10 - The Broncos have had two weeks to prepare for Drew Brees and his New Orleans Saints. Peyton Manning has 1808 passing yards 14 TDs and four INTs. Manning will have an opportunity to face the 30th ranked passing defense in the league.

11)Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) Previous Rank 12 - Coming out of the bye the Eagles face the lone undefeated Falcons team this week. Andy Reid is currently 13-0 coming out of byes.

12)New Orleans Saints (2-4) Previous Rank 16 - Drew Brees has 2097 yards, 18 touchdowns and a QBR of 96.1. Brees refuses to lose and has yet to give up trying to salvage his team's season. The Saints survived a last second drive by Josh Freeman and have won two straight. They head to Denver for Sunday night and will need to survive a shootout with Peyton Manning.

13)San Diego Chargers (3-3) Previous Rank 13 - They had an unnecessary two weeks to prepare for the Browns. If the Chargers lose to the Browns and Kansas City in the following weeks, will that finally be enough for the Chargers to fire Norv Turner?

14)Washington Redskins (3-3) Previous Rank 15 - RG3 thought he had the game won before Eli Manning broke his heart. Despite the loss, RG3 continues to progress as an NFL QB. RG3 is definitely a pass first, run under pressure qb and he is becoming more and more difficult for opposing defenses to prepare for. They head to Pittsburgh this week and I wouldn't doubt it if RG3 exploits Pittsburgh's struggling defense for another 100 yard rushing performance.

15)Pittsburgh Steelers (3-3) Previous Rank 17 - Loss, win, loss, win, loss, win. Can the Steelers break the pattern and finally get a winning streak together. Pittsburgh struggled to beat the Bengals, a team they once dominated. RBs Isaac Redman and Rashard Mendenhall didn't play in the game. RB Jonathan Dwyer got the start and rushed 122 yards helping the offensive balance. The Steelers face RG3 coming off a tough loss.

16)Seattle Seahawks (4-3) Previous Rank 14 - Struggling to get anything going offensively, the Seahawks add another one to their loss column. Seattle's defense is still very impressive ranking eighth in passing yards and sixth in rushing yards allowed. Seahawks will try to mirror what Chicago did to slow down Megatron and Mathew Stafford when they play this week.

17)Arizona Cardinals (4-3) Previous Rank 11 - Make that three straight losses for the Cardinals now. Arizona won games in weird inexplainable ways to start the season. The Cardinals lost despite holding the Vikings to a total of 43 passing yards. Arizona's offense continues to fail week after week as they now fall to 26th passing and 27th in rushing yards. Hosting the 49ers next week on Monday night won't help their cause.

18)Dallas Cowboys (3-3) Previous Rank 19 - The Cowboys lost leading tackler Sean Lee for the season to a toe injury. Cowboys defense ranks third in passing and 15th in rushing yards allowed. Dan Bailey redeemed himself making all of his four field goal attempts this week to help the Cowboys get the win over the Panthers. Tony Romo has a 97.8 QBR avg in his last two games which is making me second guess this whole QBR statistic. The Cowboys face a red hot New York Giants team this week that is looking to even up the score after losing to the Cowboys in Week 1.

19)Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) Previous Rank 18 - The Bengals fell short to the Steelers as Andy Dalton completed 14 passes for only 108 yards, one TD and one INT. Dalton ended up with a QBR of 16.9 so maybe QBR isn't so bad. The Bengals enter their bye week with a losing record before hosting Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos.

20)Detroit Lions (2-4) Previous Rank 20 - It wasn't pretty for the high powered Lions offense this past Monday night. Being denied the end-zone until they managed to get a meaningless score late in the game. Detroit fumbled the ball three times in key situations and Megatron failed to have any impact on the game catching three passes for 34 yards. The Lions now will face another stingy defense as they host the Seahawks on Sunday.

21)Miami Dolphins (3-3) Previous Rank 21 - I hope Miami watched the Patriots-Jets game. They will play the Jets this week and will need to avoid the making the same mistakes the Pats defense did. Ryan Tannehill vs Mark Sanchez a battle of epic proportions (I'm joking this would have been a better college Saturday night match up).

22)Tampa Bay (2-4) Previous Rank 22 - Despite losing to the Saints, the Buccaneers looked very good. Josh Freeman played a great game 24 passes for 420 yards, three TDS. Freeman completed a would be game tying touchdown pass to Mike Williams in the back of the end-zone that was overturned due to the fact that Williams stepped out of bounds prior to making the catch. The Buccaneers play a competitive game week after week but just can't figure out how to close things out. They head to Minnesota to play the Vikings tonight.

23)New York Jets (3-4) - Previous Rank 25 - Mark Sanchez and the Jets put up a good fight giving Patriots' fans a nice scare as they climbed back to force overtime. For now, a Mark Sanchez benching talks are back down to a minimum. Rex Ryan doesn't believe his team's records shows how good his football team really is but how good is his team. The Jets rank 28th in passing offense and 14th in rushing. Defensively they rank ninth in passing and 30th in rushing yards allowed. They host Miami this week.

24)Buffalo Bills (3-4) Previous Rank 24 - How bad is the Bills' defense? Well it allowed Chris Johnson to rush for 195 yards in a losing effort to the Titans. Buffalo enters their bye week at 3-4 and will face the Texans and Patriots when they return.

25)St. Louis Rams (3-4) Previous Rank 23 - The Rams fell to Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay Packers and now will face Tom Brady and the Patriots in London this week. The Rams definitely find themselves in a tough stretch of games to say the least. They will get a very much needed bye week before facing the 49ers in Week 10.

26)Tennessee Titans (3-4) Previous Rank 26 - The Titans rallied late in the 4th qtr as Matt Hasselbeck threw a late TD to Nate Washington for the win. The Titans have no defense. Chris Johnson seems to be getting his legs back. Johnson's running should help Tennessee control the play clock and keep their defense off the field. The Titans host the Colts this Sunday.

27)Oakland Raiders (2-4) Previous Rank 28 - Raiders' fans never know what they are gonna get after putting up a great fight against the Falcons. The Raiders needed OT just to beat the Jaguars. Carson Palmer can rack up yardage with the best of them but his  seven TD to four INT ratio must improve. The Raiders get to face a worse team than themselves this week, Kansas City.

28) Carolina Panthers (1-5) Previous Rank 27 - Firing their GM isn't going to get this team back on track anytime soon. Cam Newton must improve and the play calling may be playing a part to his lack of production. Newton has five TDs and six INTs and looks nothing like he did last year. The Panthers will travel to Chicago to face the Bears this week. Good luck trying to get points there.

29)Indianapolis Colts (3-3) Previous Rank 29 - Andrew Luck only had 186 yards and no TDs or INTs in the Colts 17-13 victory over the visiting Cleveland Browns. Facing Tennessee this week, the Colts rank 26th in defensive rushing yards allowed and will need to stop Chris Johnson.

30)Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) Previous Rank 30 - Blaine Gabbert has a hurt shoulder and MJD has a foot injury. Adding insult to injury the Jaguars now will have to travel to Lambeau Field this week to face the Packers.

31)Kansas City Chiefs (1-5) Previous Rank 31 - Coming out of the bye week to host the Raiders on Sunday, the Chiefs will need a lot of run support from Jamaal Charles.

32)Cleveland Browns (1-6) Previous Rank 32 - Boasting the league's worst record, the Cleveland Browns host the San Diego Chargers. Ranking 26th in passing and 24 in rushing yards allowed, the Browns defense may continue to struggle against Phillip Rivers this Sunday. QB Brandon Weeden currently has nine TDs, 10 INTs and a 20.3 QBR for the season. He is coming off his best game of the season against the Colts with a 60.8 QBR. RB Trent Richardson has just 348 rushing yards for the season.

Emanuel Steward

When I woke this morning I looked on BadLeftHook.com to see if anything has happened in Boxing since last night. I usually do that, wake up and check my SB Nation app. I seen a story about legendary trainer  and analyst Emanuel Steward's death. After texting a few people that care about Boxing about it, I see an update to the story that Steward's family is stating he is still alive. So I get back on twitter and I see a tweet from Andy Lee. Lee is currently trained by Steward. The tweet said that Steward's sister informed him that she is by Emanuel's side and he is seriously ill but is still fighting strong. A report from WXYZ CH. 7 in Detroit is shared mentioning the Steward family disheartened by the reports of his death. It has been a roller coaster ride trying to keep up with the series of events. Early in the a.m. Wladimir Klitschko (another fighter trained by Steward) posted a statement on Facebook about Steward's death and posted a black and white image of the two. A few hours later, both items are removed from the site leading to speculation he is still alive. Well I'm under the impression Steward is still alive, and am glad to hear that. I hope to soon hear him on HBO talking about this day and his fight to stay alive and beat the 10 count.

When I initially read the news, I was heartbroken. I immediately started thinking about all the fights I have heard with him on commentary.

Then the ninth round of Micky Ward-Arturo Gatti I, instantly popped in my head. I could hear Steward screaming at Ward to keep attacking Gatti's body after Ward hurt him early in the "Greatest Round in the History of Boxing".

Here is what Steward said during the round:

"This is it, it's not like a head punch." - After Ward dropped Gatti with a wicked left hook to the bod
"And Ward is going to go back down there again. Right to the body again." - After Gatti beat the 10 count.
"He's (Gatti) is still hurt from the body punch, in addition to the head" - As Ward is throwing combinations staggering Gatti.
"But Ward should go back to the body again!" - Gatti is rallying back into the fight with pure heart and wiillingness to fight.
"Unbelieveable!"
"Now, Gatti is trying to get a break, Ward should go back to the body.... That's where he needs to go! GO TO THE BODY!" - After Gatti wore himself out from throwing and Ward starts to get his punches in, most notably to the body.
"You know, you dream of fights like this. But very seldom do they live up to the expectations, but this is even more than you could dream of." - As the men exchange blows with 30 seconds left.
"And Ward is tired, and here comes Gatti back!" - In the final 10 seconds of the fight as Gatti rallies back
"This should be the round of the century."  As the men walk to their corners at the finale of the greatest round I've seen as a Boxing fan.

This moment stood out to me like no other, I remember watching this fight and specifically telling my dad, Jim Lampley and Emanuel Steward are giving this fight so much more feel to it with their emotions.
Often times we take things for granted. We don't realize what it would be like to lose something we love. In this case it was the voice of Steward on HBO. He has been a staple in my home on Saturday nights and late at night when I watch old fights on YouTube because I would rather watch Boxing than sleep.

Take a moment and think about the blessings of being alive. Cherish everything and those you love. Tomorrow isn't promised to us. If it was, life wouldn't be such an interesting journey.

NFL Week 6 Power Rankings

1)Atlanta Falcons (6-0) Previous Rank 2 - Facing a well prepared Oakland defense, Atlanta failed to turn this game into a laugher. The  Falcons found themselves ahead after Asante Samuel took a Carson Palmer interception to the house to give them a 20-13 lead. If not for that interception the game could have definitely gone the other way. Oakland gave Atlanta problems but nonetheless the Falcons are the only undefeated team left in the league.Matt Ryan has done an exceptional job at distributing the football. Roddy White has 37 receptions for 533 yards, Tony Gonzalez 43 receptions for 430 yards, and Julio Jones 30 receptions for 376 yards. Each receiver has four touchdowns and average over 10.0 yard per catch. They travel to Philadelphia this week to face the Eagles who have dropped two straight to lesser opponents.
*Editor's note* If Philadelphia beats Atlanta next week, the Eagles deserve to be number one the following week.

2)Houston Texans (5-1) Previous Rank 1 - Were they past due for a bad game? Or is this what happens when you face a good team? Not having linebacker Brian Cushing had a definite impact on the Texans defense this past Sunday night. The Texans suffered their first lost of the season. Arian Foster had his worst game this season two TDs with only 29 rushing yards. Matt Schaub threw two INTs and no TDs. The Texans defense looked sluggish and confused all night as they gave up six passing TDs to Aaron Rodgers and his receivers. The Texans failed their first test against stiffer competition and will now have to prepare for the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday.

3)Baltimore Ravens (5-1) Previous Rank 4 - The Ravens have won four straight after surviving a 481 yard performance by the Dallas Cowboys. The banged up Ravens' defense could not stop Dallas' running backs as they gave up over 90 yards to each back. Cowboys' kicker Dan Bailey missed a would be game winner in the final seconds giving the Ravens the victory. The Ravens benefited greatly from Jacoby Jones's 108 yard kick return in the third quarter. Baltimore heads to Houston this week without Ray Lewis and will need more of the luck they had this past week to beat the Texans.
*Editor's note* Which team is responsible for Baltimore's only loss? That would be the "lowly" ranked Eagles.

4)New York Giants (4-2) Previous Rank 6 - The best performance of the weekend goes to the Giants for their absolute dominance over the 49ers. The Giants held the 49ers out of the end-zone and allowed only a David Akers 42 yard field goal in the first quarter. The Giants host RG3 and the Redskins this Sunday looking to keep the pace in the NFC East.
*Editor's note* Again. Who is responsible for dishing New York one of their losses? If you guessed the Eagles, you're correct.

5)San Francisco 49ers (4-2) Previous Rank 3 - Even after the 80 yard rushing game against the Giants this week the 49ers still rank first in rushing. Alex Smith threw three INTs and Frank Gore was held to 36 rushing yards on only eight rushing attempts. The 49ers just played the worst game of their season and will now have a chance to redeem themselves when they host the Seahawks tonight in a match up between the best teams in the NFC West.

6)New England Patriots (3-3) Previous Rank 5 - Tough luck has plagued the New England's season. The Patriots could easily have a record of 6-0 as they have yet to be beaten by more that two points. The Patriots secondary clearly has some issues that need to be addressed now more than ever after being lit up by a Rookie QB with QBR of 43.8. Even in a loss like this, the Patriots offense still managed to get 475 yards of total offensive yardage. New England hosts Mark Sanchez and the Jets this Sunday and will look to avoid falling below .500 in a favorable division match up.

7)Chicago Bears (4-1) Previous Rank 7 - The Bears are coming off a bye week with an opportunity to display how prepared they are for the Lions. Jay Cutler has seven TDs and seven INTs and will need to be more focused for the rest of the season as the Bears could be legit contenders in their division.

8)Green Bay Packers (3-3) Previous Rank 11 - They beat the Texans last week, a team that was believed to be a better team. Green Bay's offense did what its always been capable of doing and that's light up the score board and make it all but impossible for more balanced teams like the Texans to catch up. Aaron Rodgers tied a franchise record with six TDs and 338 yards for a passer rating of 133.8. Jordy Nelson was the recipient on three of Rodgers' TD passes and now has gotten a bit of a confidence boost after only having one TD prior. Green Bay travels to St. Louis to face the sixth ranked pass defense in the league.

9)Minnesota Vikings (4-2) Previous Rank 9 - Minnesota was within five points before a 76-yard TD run by RG3 sealed the Redskins' victory. Minnesota's offense settled for field goals early failing to find the end-zone on three red-zone trips in the first quarter. Christian Ponder had 352 yards, two TDs, and two INTs and his lowest QBR of the season at 37.3. Minnesota's stingy rushing defense gave up 183 yards on the ground which is the most they have given up in a single game all season. Vikings host the Cardinals this Sunday an will look to bounce back as they are a game back of the Bears in the NFC North.

10)Denver Broncos (3-3) Previous Rank 13 - Peyton Manning did it again he led the Broncos into another come from behind victory. Denver's defense stepped it up big. They buckled down in the second half shutting down the Chargers offense. This team can be dangerous when both the defense and offense click like they did in the second half against San Diego. The Broncos get a much needed bye week before hosting the Saints.

11)Arizona Cardinals (4-2) Previous Rank 10 - Another loss for the Cardinals, this time in overtime to the Bills. Larry Fitzgerald caught 93 of Kevin Kolbs 128 total passing yards for the game. Arizona stalled offensively numerous times and got a 61 yard Jay Feely field goal just to send the game into overtime. Arizona ranks 28th in total offense and face a stingy Vikings' defense this Sunday.

12)Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) Previous Rank 9 -  The bye week couldn't come at a better time as the Eagles have dropped two straight. Philadelphia continues to turn the ball over.  Michael Vick added another two INTs to his total. For every TD pass Vick has thrown he has thrown an INT, he has eight passing TDs and eight INTs. With the firing of defensive coordinator Juan Castillo this week, Philadelphia will look for improvement on defense. The Eagles face Atlanta and New Orleans in the next weeks to come.
*Editor's note* This is preposterous! Philly has beat two of the top four teams and they are ranked 11th? Oh the humanity!

13)San Diego Chargers (3-3) Previous Rank 12 - Antonio Gates and Phillip Rivers came out swinging giving San Diego a 24-0 lead entering the second half against Denver. Then they fell apart defensively as Manning picked them apart. Rivers turned the ball over a total of five times in the second half, three interceptions and two lost fumbles. San Diego enters their bye week and will travel to Cleveland when they return to action.

14)Seattle Seahawks (4-2) Previous Rank 18 - Seattle took advantage of New England's weak secondary last week. Russell Wilson had his first three TD passing game of his young career and was just seven yards shy of having his first 300 yard passing game. Seattle now owns a 4-2 record and will face another tough test tonight against the 49ers.

15)Washington Redskins (3-3) Previous Rank 23 - RG3 did it with his legs piling up 138 rushing yards and two TDs to add to his 182 passing yards and a passing TD. The rookie kept Minnesota's defense at bay all day resulting in Washington's first home victory of the season. RG3 coming back from a concussion injury had his best passing day of his young career with a near perfect QBR of 97.6. The Redskins face the first place New York Giants.

16)New Orleans Saints (1-4) Previous Rank 16 - Coming off a bye week, Drew Brees and company get to face the 31st ranked pass defense in the league. Very interesting to see what the Saints do against Tampa Bay's weak secondary.

17)Pittsburgh Steelers (2-3) Previous Rank 15 - The Steelers are now 0-3 on the road after their loss to Tennessee last Thursday night. The defense continues to look sluggish. Safety Troy Polamalu has been sidelined due to a calf injury and the Steelers defense is no longer forcing turnovers at the rate they once did. Big Ben continues to make big plays while on the run and is having a much better TD to Interception ratio currently 10-2 while ranking fourth in QBR. The Steelers will look for their first road win of the season as they travel to Cincinnati for a Sunday night showdown.

18)Cincinnati Bengals (3-3) Previous Rank 14 - Andy Dalton had three INTs in the Bengals' loss to the Browns. Dalton now has 11 turnovers to go along with his 12 touchdowns on the season. Facing the Steelers this week, Cincinnati will need a victory before heading into their bye week to get above .500.

19)Dallas Cowboys (2-3) Previous Rank 17 -   Cowboys fans question did your boys really have this one as you all have claimed. Let's look at the stats. Dallas rushed for a total of 227 yards and one TD. Romo threw for 261 yards, two TDs, and one INT. Not great but could have been worse, it is Romo after all. So the Cowboys played one of their best games all season and still managed to lose. Failing to tie things up on a two-point conversion pass to Dez Bryant followed by a recovered onside kick. Dallas had one last chance at it but Dan Bailey missed a 51-yard field goal attempt in the final minute. No, Dallas fans they never had it. The Cowboys will travel to Carolina to face Cam Newton and the Panthers.

20)Detroit Lions (2-3) Previous Rank 20 - Coming out of their bye to face the Eagles, the Lions found themselves down 10 with five minutes to go. Matthew Stafford threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Nate Burleson. The Lions capped off regulation time with Jason Hansen's 19-yard field goal to tie things up and force OT. Detroit sacked Vick twice and forced a punt. Matthew Stafford took over at the 50-yard line and five plays later, the Lions found themselves victorious after a Hansen 45-yard field goal. Detroit possesses the weapons to wins games like this on a more consistent basis. Why they are 2-3? That's beyond me!They head to Chicago to face the Bears Monday night.

21)Miami Dolphins (3-3) Previous Rank 21 - Ryan Tannehill had two TDs and 0 INTs in the victory over St. Louis. Tannehill now has a total of four TDs. Miami isn't exactly destroying teams but they are grinding out victories, being careful with the football, and not forcing Tannehill to do to much. The Dolphins get a bye this week before their matchup with the Jets.

22)Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3) Previous Rank 22 - The Buccaneers finally get a victory after dropping three straight. Josh Freeman came out of the bye week much sharper completing 15 passes for 328 yards and 12.62 yard per completion average. Mike Williams got the big play he had been lacking all season catching a 62-yard touchdown pass. Now with some momentum going forward, the Bucs will need to keep their foot on the gas as now they host New Orleans.

23)St. Louis Rams (3-3) Previous Rank 19 - The Rams needed a victory badly against the Dolphins last week. St. Louis takes on Green Bay, New England, and the 49ers over the next four weeks. A brutal stretch that can easily cripple their season.

24)Buffalo Bills (3-3) Previous Rank 24 - Buffalo picks up a win to bring them back to .500 and surprisingly they didn't give up 40+ points in the process. After the overtime win, Buffalo now ranks 32nd in allowed rushing and 20th in passing defense. Fitzpatrick got his first victory without having a 100+ passer rating. With both C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson splitting carries, Buffalo's ground game is carrying the team and is helping maintain the pace.

25)New York Jets (3-3) Previous Rank 25 - The reigns are beginning to pull Mark Sanchez back as he only attempted 18 passes for a total of 82 yards and two TDs. The offense is clearly going back to the ground game and the Jets are no longer asking Sanchez to win games but are doing everything they can to keep him from losing them. Shonn Greene had a great game rushing for 161 yards and three TDs. The Jets are much better when they try to control the tempo by running and keeping their banged up defense off the field. Despite facing a weak secondary in the New England Patriots this week don't expect Sanchez to be having a shootout with Tom Brady.

26)Tennessee Titans (2-4) Previous Rank 26 - Did the Titans beat the Steelers or did the Steelers beat themselves? I've been asking myself that question all week aside from me second guessing Chris Johnson every week. The Titans took advantage of the Steelers banged up defense allowing Johnson to carry the ball 19 times for 91 yards and played a more balanced game for a change. It worked! The Titans head to Buffalo this week and if both defenses play as bad as they have all year look for someone to have a 200 yard ground game.

27)Carolina Panthers (1-4) Previous Rank 27 - Carolina looks to get a victory coming out of their bye week after losing three straight. Panthers are currently 1-2 at home and need a big game from Cam Newton.

28)Oakland Raiders (1-4) Previous Rank 29 - Unlike the Cowboys' fans, the Raiders' fans took a much tougher loss much better. Maybe it's the level of alcohol involved? The Raiders put up a great fight against a high powered Falcons squad and made it very interesting in the fourth quarter. Had it not been for Palmer's INT the Raiders could have very well been victorious. Now the Raiders have a chance to get a win against Jacksonville this Sunday, all they have to do is make less mistakes and play with the same intensity they had in the Falcons game.

29)Indianapolis Colts (2-3) Previous Rank 30 - Andrew Luck is only a rookie and the Colts are asking a lot out of him. At times he has shown glimpses of being able to make the transition into the NFL look easy but like any other rookie he can regress just as easily. The Colts rank third in passing defense and host the Browns with a chance to get to .500.

30) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) Previous Rank 31 - Blaine Gabbert currently has 796 passing yards and continues to fail at making big plays. The Jaguars' passing offense is awful ranking 32nd and their ground is not much better ranking 22nd. The Jaguars had a bye week to figure things out on both sides of the ball.

31) Kansas City Chiefs (1-5) Previous Rank 28 - Brady Quinn's first shot at the starting job may be his only shot. Quinn finished the day with a 15.7 QBR, not much of an improvement over Matt Cassel. Why don't the Chiefs just give Ricky Stanzi a chance? Anything over a 20 QBR will be a big step up for them at the QB position. The Chiefs are in a bad situation and will really need this bye week to get back on track if they ever were on track to begin with.

32)Cleveland Browns (1-5) Previous Rank 32 - The Browns didn't get to 0-6 as I thought they would. This isn't a bad team it's clearly a work in progress team and wins aren't to be expected. Cleveland benefited from three INTs from Dalton to help split the season series with the Bengals. Can traveling to Indianapolis this week can be what the Browns make it two straight wins?

Erik Morales/Danny Garcia II

This weekend Erik "El Terrible" Morales (52-8; 36 KO) and Danny "Swift" Garcia (24-0' 15 KO) headline a star-studded card by Golden Boy Promotions.

WBA Welterweight Champion, Paulie Malignaggi (31-4; 7 KO) will make a homecoming title defense against the up and coming Pablo Cesar Cano (25-1-1; 19 KO) in a 12 round bout for Malignaggi's WBA Welterweight Championship. Malignaggi is coming off his finest moment as a professional, traveling to the Ukraine and beating Vyacheslav Senchenko vio TKO. Not many gave "The Magic Man" a chance against the undefeated Senchenko but Malignaggi dug down deep to shock the Boxing world. Malignaggi is not known for being much of a puncher with only seven knockouts of his 31 victories. But on that night Malignaggi was masterful with counter punches and combinations keeping Senchenko in check before finally ending the bout in the ninth round. Malignaggi was rewarded with his first title defense in his backyard of Brooklyn, NY at the brand new Barclays Center against Cano.

Cano burst on the scene on the under card of the Mayweather/Ortiz card when he took on Morales. Cano gave Morales trouble early in the fight but the veteran adjusted and taught the youngin' a Boxing lesson winning by decision. Cano comes into the bout looking to spoil a special night for Malignaggi. Cano is hungry and seems to have the fire and fight in his eyes. It's a tough one to call before the bout because we have seen what a determined young fighter can do to a experienced veteran in the past. But Malignaggi still has years of fights left in him at the age of 31 and I feel will start a lengthy title defense reign starting with Cano.

Randall Bailey (43-7; 37 KO) and Devon Alexander (23-1; 13 KO) will finally get it on after the original date of September 8 at The Joint in Las Vegas was scratched due to Bailey suffering a back injury while sparring in preparation for the fight. The Bout will be for Bailey's IBF Welterweight Championship as Alexander looks to win his second title in two different weight classes.

The challenger, Alexander is coming off a display of dominance over Argentinian Marcos Maidana in his first fight as a welterweight. Alexander overwhelmed Maidana with power and speed almost seemingly landing his lead right hook at will.

The last time we saw Bailey, he viciously knocked out Mike Jones in a snooze-fest of a fight, winning the vacant IBF Welterweight title. The two will finally get it on and Bailey is looking to add another KO to his record as Alexander is out to prove to the world that the win over Maidana at 147 pounds wasn't a fluke.
In the main event of the fight, Morales looks for a bit of revenge against Garcia. The two fought back in March 24, Garcia won the bout via unanimous decision. Morales had gallbladder surgery in December, forcing him to withdraw from the original date of January 28. El Terrible recovered, but didn't really look in the best of shape we have seen the fearless Mexican warrior in before. He weighed in two pounds over the the 140 weight limit the day before the fight. Since he failed to make weight, he was stripped of his WBC Junior Welterweight Championship.

The fight started slow and Morales was able to dictate the pace, even busting Garcia's nose and face with his trademark combinations of a stiff jab and straight right hand. But speed was in Garcia's favor the whole night, in the later rounds, Garcia would even keep Morales at bay by forcing him on the ropes and delivering shots that made us wince watching Morales taking the shots. Garcia went on to knocking down El Terrible, but he got back up and finished the fight on his feet. Garcia won the fight by landslide margins on the scorecards. I personally had the fight much closer than the judges did.

Garcia's performance earned him a shot at Amir Khan's WBA Super World Light-Welterweight Champion in a unification bout. Garcia was the underdog coming into the fight as many people gave the edge to Khan. Khan seemed to outclass Garcia in the first two rounds, utilizing his speed. Then late in the third round, Garcia caught Khan with a counter left hook, and knocked him down. Khan was able to survive the round as he was saved by the bell. In the next round, Garcia dropped Khan two times prompting the referee to step in and stop the bout.

This fight has a few implications that could affect the future of Boxing. If Garcia wins, that would be his third victory this year and would easily propel him into the marquee group of the Junior Welterweight division with names like Lucas Matthyse, Brandon Rios, and Juan Manuel Marquez. A big fight with any of those names could be on the horizon, with a fight against Matthyse the most likely as they share the same promoter. I wont even get into the Golden Boy/Top Rank fiasco.

If Morales wins, where does he go from here? Will he retire, and exit the sport on top and at his own will? Will he make one final championship run and fight somebody like Matthyse (whom he was supposed to fight, but injury forced him to fight Cano) or Marquez. A fight between the two has been rumored since their days of sharing the featherweight division during the glory days when Marco Antonio Barerra, Manny Pacquiao, Marquez, and Morales were the cream of the crop. Negotiations have broken off a few times before between the camps, and looks more difficult now with Marquez worrying about a December bout with Pacquiao and Morales' eyes set on Garcia this Saturday.

If you're a Boxing fan, you may not want to miss this fight. The action will certainly make this fight a Fight of the Year candidate and for all we know, it could be the last time we ever see Morales lace up the gloves in a Boxing ring.

My Predictions

- Devon Alexander will outbox the free swinging Randall Bailey and overcome a knockdown to win via unanimous decison.

-Paulie Malignaggi will retain his WBA belt by withstanding a young and hungry Pablo Cesar Cano. I want to say Malignaggi wiins via TKO, but I'll go the safe route and say majority decision.

- I'm really hoping Erik Morales knocks out Danny Garcia.

NFL Week 5 Power Rankings

1) Houston Texans (5-0) Previous Rank 1 - Super Bowl bound? Still too early to tell if this team has what it takes but the Texans by far have been the most impressive team this season. Arian Foster is averaging 106.2 rushing yards per game and Matt Schuab has yet to have a 300 yard passing game largely in part to the fact that the Texans have a well balanced offensive scheme keeping opposing defenses on their toes. Now they didn't humiliate the Jets on Monday Night but they did get the win. Texans now will face Green Bay and Baltimore without star linebacker Brian Cushing who may be suffering from a torn ACL. Houston definitely will face its stiffest competition thus far in the weeks to come and we can finally get a true evaluation of what this team is all about.

2)Atlanta Falcons (5-0) Previous Rank 2 - A lot like the Houston Texans the Atlanta Falcons have yet to face stiff competition but have gotten the job done against lesser opponents. After an exciting matchup with the Redskins this past weekend the Falcons find themselves at 5-0 for the first time in franchise history. Another huge game for Tony Gonzalez 13 receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown he is by far Matt Ryan's favorite target. The Raiders come to town this week lets just say if you have any Falcons on your fantasy be sure to start them.

3)San Francisco 49ers (4-1) Previous Rank 4 - The only blemish with the 49ers is they rank 27th in passing yards but who cares when you rank 1st in rushing and have the best defense in the NFL. The 49ers racked up 621 yards a new franchise record ironically enough the last time they broke this record was against the Bills. Alex Smith cracked the 300 yard mark for the first time this season. In doing research I discovered that this was his 3rd career 300 yard game and the only time the 49ers have won when he has reached that mark. The 49ers are a very legitimate contender this season and now have an opportunity to flex their muscle against the New York Giants this week.

4)Baltimore Ravens (4-1) Previous Rank 3 - The Ravens couldn't find the end-zone this past Sunday in Kansas City luckily for them the Chiefs had offensive woes of their own. This should have been a blow out game for the Ravens but it wasn't Jamaal Charles rushed for 140 yards against the aging Baltimore defense. For the first team this season we get a glimpse of what happens when the offense doesn't show up for the Ravens. Nonetheless the Ravens now boast a 4-1 record and find themselves atop the AFC North and will now get a chance to pat their defensive statistics as none other than gun slinger Tony Romo and his Dallas Cowboys come to town.

5)New England Patriots (3-2) Previous Rank 9 - The rushing game of New England is opening things up for Tom Brady. New England ranks 3rd in rushing and as a result ranks 9th in passing. Even without tight end Aaron Hernandez the Patriots offense is looking the best it has in years. As far as defense goes they rank 30th in passing yards allowed at 291.6 yards per game and 8th in rushing yards. Teams definitely can attack New England through the air but cannot out shoot Tom Brady and his arsenal of unlimited weapons. They will now face the stingy Seattle Seahawks defense.

6)New York Giants (3-2) Previous Rank 6 - Ahmad Bradshaw and Victor Cruz each had a great performance against the Cleveland Browns this weekend. Bradshaw rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown. Cruz 5 receptions for only 50 yards but 3 of them for touchdowns. The Giants did everything right as they should have facing a very week Browns team. The Giants now face stiffer competition this week as they face the number one defense of the 49ers.

7)Chicago Bears (4-1) Previous Rank 10 - The Bears defense held the Jaguars to 3 points and only one failed trip to the red-zone. Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall have connected 19 times for 279 yards and two touchdowns in the last two games. As long as the Bears Defense continues to stop teams and Jay Cutler doesn't cough it up the Bears have a very prosperous season ahead of them. Chicago has a bye week and will face Detroit in week 7.

8)Philadelphia Eagles (3-2) Previous Rank 7 - The Eagles struggled this past Sunday in a loss to a banged up Steelers defense. Michael Vick fumbled the ball 3 times and now has 11 turnovers for the season. With a QBR of 51.7 he's been very careless with the ball but has yet to point the finger at anyone but himself. The offensive line is clearly built for the rush and continue to struggle when Vick is in the pocket. If Philadelphia plans on getting into the playoffs they need to stop turning the ball over.

9)Minnesota Vikings (4-1) Previous Rank 14 - The Vikings keep climbing up these rankings as they keep winning and are doing it very convincingly. They control the running game on both sides of the ball. Christian Ponder threw his first 2 interceptions of the season this past Sunday but other than that the Vikings were in complete control as they beat the Titans 30-7. They now will face the Washington Redskins.

10)Arizona Cardinals (4-1) Previous Rank 3 - It was bound to happen the Cardinals got their first loss at the hands of the St. Louis Rams. Its mind boggling to see a team ranked 25th in passing 31st in rushing offense and still have a 4-1 record. Arizona can improve to 5-1 as they face the Buffalo Bills.

11)Green Bay Packers (2-3) Previous Rank 7 - They lost to an emotional Indianapolis Colts team this week and Green Bay finds themselves below .500 for the 3rd time this season. Green Bay ranks 17th in both defensive categories and have given up 27 points in back to back weeks. They now head to Houston in a crucial game that can put them in a deeper hole if they can't pull out a win.

12)San Diego Chargers (3-2) Previous Rank 11 - San Diego didn't look that bad in their loss to the Saints this weekend. Phillip Rivers passed for 354 yards and a pair of TDs while spreading the ball to 8 different receivers. Sand Diego was in it this past week and if it wasn't for the two turnovers they might have gotten another victory. They face Denver this week in a crucial game that can get them a nice 2 game lead in the AFC west.

13)Denver Broncos (2-3) Previous Rank 12 - Three consecutive 300 yard passing games for Peyton Manning he truly is doing everything he can for the Broncos. Defensively the Broncos struggle when it comes to stopping the run ranking 21st. The Broncos for the most part have been very competitive in all three losses but as said earlier in the season they are relying on Peyton to be the savior and its starting to become a reciepe for disaster.

14)Cincinnati Bengals (3-2) Previous rank 13 - They finally loss to a lesser opponent. The Bengals found themselves in a position to win in the final minutes of the game until Andy Dalton threw an interception to seal a Miami Dolphins victory. Heading into Cleveland this week the Bengals have another shot at beating up on a bad team.

15)Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2) Previous Rank 16 - The Steelers got Rashard Mendenhall back this past Sunday and he rushed for 81 yards and a TD. Pittsburgh got a win on a final drive in which Big Ben converted 2 crucial third downs and ate up over 6 minutes off the clock. Big Ben now has 29 game-winning drives under his belt. Pittsburgh will face the struggling Tennessee Titans without Troy Polamalu.

16)New Orleans Saints (1-4) Previous Rank 27 - The Saints finally got a win after the awful first quarter to their season. The bye couldn't come at a better time as they now get a chance to focus on the road ahead. For now the Saints get to enter their bye week with the best passing offense in football but rank nearly dead to last in all other categories offensive and defensively. The Saints clearly have displayed how dangerous and unstoppable they can be offensively. If they come out of the bye week with a more focused defense they can certainly salvage whats left of their season. Many may disagree where I currently rank the Saints but honestly the following 16 teams would have a tough time matching them offensively.

17)Dallas Cowboys (2-2) Previous Rank 17 - Coming off a much needed bye week, Tony Romo gets a chance to redeem himself against the Baltimore Ravens defense. The Cowboys are currently ranked first in passing defense and will certainly need to stop Joe Flacco this week to have a shot at getting above .500.

18)Seattle Seahawks (3-2) Previous Rank 18 - The Seahawks have the stingiest defense in the league giving up only 258.6 yards per game. They picked up another win (this time legit) against the Carolina Panthers. The Seahawks can definitely run the ball and have a strong defense but will they be able to stop the high powered Patriots this week?

19)St Louis Rams (3-2) Previous Rank 19 - The Rams are the first team to get a win against the Arizona Cardinals holding them to just a field goal. After losing their best receiver Danny Amendola due to injury, the Rams now have to figure out a way to move the ball through the air as they rank 30th in passing offense. Sam Bradford continued with yet another unimpressive game completing only seven passes on 21 attempts - a 33.3 completion percentage. Bradford's QBR is still at an awful 37.3 and losing Amendola won't help his cause. The Rams head to Miami this Sunday in what seems to be a coin flip of a game.

20)Detroit Lions (1-3) Previous Rank 20 - The Lions are coming off a bye week to face Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles. If the Lions lose this week it'll be four straight losses and a lot of ground lost in their division. The Lions' defense is ranked 10th in passing yards allowed and 13th in rushing. Getting to Vick and slowing down his receivers will be key for the Lions to avoid another loss.

21)Miami Dolphins (2-3) Previous Rank 25 - The Dolphins are the best team when it comes to stopping the run allowing only 61.4 yards per game. Reggie Bush currently has 417 rushing yards - ranked 10th - and three touchdowns. Brian Hartline now has 514 receiving yards - ranked first - but only one TD. Miami will host the Rams this week and will need further production from their offense.

22)Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-3) Previous Rank 22 - The Buccaneers host Kansas City this week, they will need a win to avoid digging themselves deeper. Coming off the bye week, Josh Freeman has had time to regroup with his offense and looks for a chance to display improvement.

23)Washington Redskins (2-3) Previous Rank 15 - Robert Griffin III gave his fans a scare this past Sunday when he suffered a concussion. The Redskins are now 0-2 at home and will host the Minnesota Vikings. RG3 listed as questionable for the game.

24)Buffalo Bills (2-3) Previous Rank 21 - The Bills have now given up a total of 176 points to start the season and after a 45-3 loss this weekend to the 49ers, the Bills are looking for answers to fix their defense. Buffalo's defense ranks at the bottom, 24th in passing and 30th in rushing yards allowed per game. In their two victories this season, Ryan Fitzpaterick had QB ratings of over 100 and the Bill's defense held the opposition under 20 points. The Bills travel to Arizona this week needing a victory to get back to .500.

25)New York Jets (2-3) Previous Rank 24 - Mark Sanchez is under scrutiny and rightfully so. With only a QBR of 28.2 a completion percentage of 48.4 to go along with six INTs and three fumbles. Sanchez has shown no signs of progression this season. The Jets have lost two straight at home and now host Andrew Luck and the Colts. In Week-2, I would have said this is a favorable match up for the Jets but now there is no telling which Jets' team will show up.

26)Tennessee Titans (1-4) Previous Rank 26 - Touchdown Titans! That was all the Titans managed to get in their loss to the Vikings this past Sunday. As expected, Chris Johnson did nothing against the Vikings stingy run defense being held to a total of 29 yards from scrimmage. Matt Hasselbeck threw 43 times and only managed to get 200 yards. However, he did spread the ball connecting with 10 different receivers. Hasselbeck and the Titans have a lot of issues to address on offense.

27)Carolina Panthers (1-4) Previous Rank 23 - Three straight losses for Cam Newton and the Panthers. With the bye week coming up Newton will need to regroup and figure out why he has regressed this season. Newton has only four passing touchdowns and five INTs. The running game is also a problem for Carolina as Newton is their rushing leader with 209 yards for the season, making the Panthers one dimensional.

28)Kansas City Chiefs (1-4) Previous Rank 26 - The Chiefs held the Ravens to only nine points this past weekend in their loss. Matt Cassel was injured and Chiefs' fans celebrated him coming out of the game. The cheering is inexcusable but Cassel did have a QBR of 11.9 last week and had 27.5 this week before he came out. Brady Quinn will now have shot at the starting job as Cassel is listed as questionable and has yet to be cleared to practice as he is suffering from a concussion. The Chiefs travel to Tampa Bay this week.

29)Oakland Raiders (1-3) Previous Rank 29 - The Raiders are coming off a bye week heading to face the undefeated Falcons on the road. Oakland can find themselves in a 1-4 hole with a defense ranking 28th against the pass facing Matt Ryan. The Raiders secondary will have their hands full this week.

30)Indianapolis Colts (2-2) Previous Rank 31 - They did it for Chuck Pagano, the Colts upset the Green Bay Packers in what was the headline of the weekend. Andrew Luck threw for 362 yards (the most by any Colts' rookie in a game) and a pair of TDs, including the game winner to wide receiver Reggie Wayne. The Colts head to New York to face the Jets with a lot of emotion and momentum. It should be very interesting game to watch. Prediction - Andrew Luck gives Mark Sanchez and Tebow a lesson on what a Quarterback really is.

31)Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) Previous Rank 30 - Blaine Gabbert now finds himself with a QBR of 38.6 and has only reached 200-yards once this season. Maurice Jones-Drew has 408 rushing yards and only one TD. The Jaguars continue their offensive downfall and get a bye week to sort this mess out. It's not looking too good for the Jaguars this season.

32)Cleveland Browns (0-5) Previous Rank 32 - It's still a work in progress in Cleveland as the Browns are looking for their first win this season. Brandon Weeden starts his campaign at a pitiful 12.6 QBR, five TDs and nine INTs. The Browns receiving corp doesn't have anybody with more than 200 receiving yards. Trent Richardson's 303 rushing yards ranks him 16th among backs. The Browns host the Bengals this Sunday and a win will mark the first time the Browns have beaten an AFC North Opponent since October 3, 2010.

Counting Down the Most Memorable 2012 MLB Headlines

This is solely my opinion, and it may be pretty biased. That is what is so special about blogging on here. These are my opinions, and I get to voice them to you. Whether you read or not, my words are out there. Something made me realize, you never know who is reading your material. I started this as an exercise just to keep my mind working. I didn't expect to put in so much time, thought, and research into this blog entry that seems quite meaningless. If you don't know a thing about baseball I tried to word this so you could feel like you have an idea of how memorable this season really was. If I did what I set out to do, please let me know. If I didn't, please let me know. With all that said, how about we get into some baseball material?

15. Exit Sandman - If there's been a constant Yankee (not named Derek Jeter) in the past 15 years, it's been the heart and soul of their bullpen, Mariano Rivera. On May 3, Rivera laid on the warning track at after injuring his right knee in a freak accident while chasing a fly ball hit by Alex Rodriguez during the Yankees batting practice. As he tracked down the ball near the center-field wall, Rivera's knee buckled, he crashed into the wall, and fell down wincing in pain as he clutched onto his knee. He was taken to a nearby hospital in Kansas City where tests revealed that he tore his right ACL and would require season-ending surgery. During spring training, Mo indicated he planned to retire at the end of this year, but since suffering the injury Rivera has expressed his hopes to return next season.

14. The Journey of Luis Cruz - A feel good story of the year could be found on any team. Since I'm a Dodgers fan, how could I not pick Luis Cruz? The 28 year old played for five different organizations before finding a home with the Dodgers. Cruz was called up on July 2, with a career batting average of .221 in 154 at bats. Cruz instantly won the hearts of Dodgers fans when he was credited with stealing home following a wild pitch from Cincinnati's Johnny Cueto. The love turned into chants of "Cruuuuuz" followed by t-shirts with "Cruuuuuz" on the back where a players last name is printed - not to mention his Twitter followers increased by the game.
It was a breath of fresh air for Mexican Dodgers' fans as they had a Mexican contributing to the team's success since Nomar Garciaparra did it when he was with the team. Cruz filled in admirably at shortstop when Dee Gordon was sidelined with injury. After the Dodgers traded for Hanley Ramirez, they switched positions and Cruz manned third base the remainder of the season. "Cochito" ended the season batting .297, with 6 HRs, 40 RBIs, 26 Runs. Following a season where it can be argued he was the team's second half MVP, Cruz should feel content heading into spring training looking to keep his job as the starting third baseman.

13. Melky Cabrera Suspension - "The MELK Man" was on a tear this season. In May, he tied a franchise record set by Randy Winn of 51 hits in a month. His stat line for may was an impressive .429 avg., three HRs, seven Doubles, five Triples, 17 RBIs, and 24 Runs. That performance helped him into the starting lineup of the NL All Star team as Cabrera received a total of 7,521,784 votes. In the fourth inning of the Mid-Summer Classic, he hit a two-run home run helping  the NL to a 8-0 victory. Cabrera ended 2-for-3 with two RBIs and was named the All-Star Game MVP. Then the milk turned sour (no pun intended).
On August 15, Cabrera was suspended 50 games after testing positive for high levels of testosterone. He admitted he used a banned substance and accepted the suspension. In an awkward turn of events, an associate of Cabrera's purchased a website for $10,000 and set up the site that would allow Cabrera to appeal the suspension - claiming the positive test was caused by a substance purchased off the website. The MLB and federal investigators traced that website back to Cabrera. Cabrera finished his season with 159 hits, .346 avg.,  11 HRs, 60 RBIs, 84 Runs, and 13 SB. With the season winding down, Cabrera ruled himself ineligible to win the  NL Batting Title.

12. The Bobby Valentine Debacle - It only took 162 games, but Bobby Valentine's hurrah in Boston is over. It took only a few weeks before Valentine’s relationship with his players started to deteriorate. In April he questioned the commitment of third baseman and fan favorite Kevin Youkilis stating, “I don’t think he’s as physically or emotionally into the game as he has been in the past for some reason.” That comment didn't set well with the fans or the team. Dustin Pedroia was among the most vocal questioning why Valentine would even question Youkilis' commitment to the game.
The Boston Redsox were a disaster to watch, in a town that expects to see a winning team on the field on a day by day basis. A mere 14 hours after the Red Sox lost the final game of the season to the Yankees, Boston announced they have cut ties with Valentine. Valentine insists he wasn't run out of town, but anybody that knows anything about the situation knows Valentine over welcomed his stay after the Youkilis statement.

11. Stephen Strasburg's Shut Down - Nationals' Manager Davey Johnson informed Stephen Strasburg something that wasn't a surprise to anybody - he would not pitch again this season, ending Strasburg’s season after 159 1/3 innings with 24 games remaining on the schedule. Washington's brass imposed a 160 innings pitched limit as it was Strasburg's first full season back following Tommy John surgery. The Ace ended his season with a 15-6 record, 3.16 ERA (fourth in the Nationals’ rotation), 197 Ks, 48 BBs, and a 1.15 WHIP. It's a gutsy move in the middle of a pennant race as Washington has reached the playoffs for the first time since 1933. On September 20, the Nationals clinched their playoff birth with a 4-1 victory over the Dodgers.

10. Matt Kemp's Month of April - If you didn't hear about the monster tear Matt Kemp was on to start the season, I have no idea what planet you were on in April. Entering the 2012 season, Kemp said he would become the first ever to hit the 50/50 mark. In 23 games he he belted 12 HRs but ONLY had two SBs. Kemp wasn't running wild, but he was busy in the batters box as he was hitting .417 to go along with a .490 on-base percentage, 16 extra-base hits, 25 RBIs, and 24 Runs.
Jayson Stark of ESPN compared Kemp's month of April to the likes of Barry Bonds, Reggie Jackson, and Ron Cey. While Stark said Cey had the better month of April in franchise history, he mentioned starts like these don't come around often and we should just enjoy the display Kemp is putting on. Kemp's season was plagued with injury, it sure would have been a sight to see, watching him chase the elusive 50/50 club. On May 1, Kemp had 139 games left to steal 48 bases and hit 38 HRs. Would it have been accomplished if Kemp wouldn't have missed time due to injury? We will never know. If I had to bet my life's savings on it - I would bet all $27.50 on Kemp's chances.

9. The Turnaround of the Los Angeles Dodgers  - Entering the 2012 season, the franchise was in turmoil. We prayed Frank McCourt would rid himself of the team for good. When that moment came, and the Guggenheim Group led by Magic Johnson purchased the Dodgers for $2 Billion, LA fans rejoiced. The Dodgers got off to a hot start, owning the best record in baseball until June 21 having lost key parts of their lineup in May - Matt Kemp and Mark Ellis. That day is when the Dodgers hit a skid that would last nearly the rest of the season. Glimmers of hope presented themselves when the Dodgers pulled off a trade with the Miami Marlins for the enigmatic Hanley Ramirez. In the deal the Dodgers sent pitchers Nathan Eovaldi and Scott McGough for Ramirez and reliever Randy Choate. They weren't done there, after the trade deadline, the Dodgers pulled off the trade of the decade with the Boston Red Sox. On August 25, the deal sending James Loney and four prospects for perennial all star Adrian Gonzalez, pitcher Josh Beckett, injured outfielder Carl Crawford and utilityman Nick Punto.
The Dodgers took on salaries totaling more than a quarter of a billion dollars in the trade. Gonzalez is owed $127 million over the next six seasons - Beckett $31.5 million - Punto $1.5 million - Crawford is on the books for  $102.5 million the next five seasons. It was a deal showing just how deep the pockets of the new ownership really is and showed a commitment to putting a winning team on the field day in and day out. The deals didn't propel the Dodgers into the playoffs, but they were in contention amid a struggling offense in the first half of September. The lineup involving it's newly acquisitions showed just how scary it can be over the final week of the season when the team won seven of the last eight games. The Dodgers didn't punch their ticket to play October baseball but over the course of the season, it felt like a winning season. The new ownership looks to spend more money this Winter to bolster the pitching staff and find Clayton Kershaw a bit of help to over throw the San Francisco Giants in 2013.

8. The Washington Nationals Division Champs - One question. Did you see this coming? Be honest! Did you? I for one can say, yes. I saw this coming. What made predict this in the preseason was the acquisition of pitcher Gio Gonzalez. I knew he would anchor the staff including Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman, Ross Detwiler, and Edwin Jackson. The starting rotation compiled 68 Wins, a 3.28 ERA, 830 Ks, and 1.18 WHIP. Gonzalez ended his season in the mix for the Cy Young with a 21-8 record, 2.89 ERA, 207 Ks, and 1.13 WHIP. I didn't predict him winning the Cy Young, but he was the most valuable draft pick of the 2012 fantasy baseball season for me.
I did predict Ryan Zimmerman would be in contention for the NL MVP, that was off. Don't hold it against me, you probably didn't even give the Nats a shot of having a winning season this year. Kidding aside, the Nats offense was dynamite all season long. Adam LaRoche led the way for the Nats hitting 31 HRs, 100 RBIs, and .271 AVG. Ian Desmond, Bryce Harper, Zimmerman, Michael Morse and Danny Espinosa all hit over 17 jacks. The pitching and offensive production led to Washington finishing with a 98-64 record; the best record in the Majors. Washington's future looks bright with Strausburg and Harper careers just blossoming.

7. The Baltimore Orioles #BUCKleUp - The Orioles just as the Nationals were a afterthought to make the postseason. In a division with the Yankees, the Red Sox, the Rays, even the Blue Jays, nobody gave this team a chance. Ever since Joe Buck has been announced as the skipper in Baltimore, the O's have a record of 128-91 buying into whatever it is Buck has been selling. This year marks the first time since 1997 that the Orioles have made the playoffs. After beating the Rangers in the one game Wild Card round in Texas, Baltimore heads to face New York to face the Yankees. The last time the two teams squared up in the postseason in 1996, Jeffrey Maier altered the course of the season for the O's after interfering with a Derek Jeter pop fly that resulted in a home run.
The Orioles managed to battle the Yankees for the division title up until the final game of the season. If New York would have lost to Boston and Baltimore would have beat Tampa bay, a one game playoff would have settled the tie and would have crowned the division champs. The scenario didn't work in the Orioles favor, but here the teams are set to face off in a marquee match up between the powerhouse Yankees and the up and coming Orioles.

6. The Oakland A's Hollywood Ending - Moneyball Part Deux. Somebody get on the phone with Brad Pitt, tell him to expect assuming the role of Billy Beane in the future.
Those guys up in Oakland trailed the Rangers by as many as 13 games in the standings on June 30th and also trailed them by five with nine games left in the season. Oakland capped of one of the greatest comebacks on the final game of the season beating the Texas Rangers in a battle for the AL West Division championship. The A's finished the season 94-68 in a season where they stood no chance playing in a division with the Rangers and Angels.
Josh Reddick led "The Misfits"as their top HR hitter. Entering 2012, Reddick had never hit more than seven HRs in a season. This year he hit the 10th most in the AL, 32. Reddick was the ultimate misfit - long hair, travels with a wrestling championship belt, and a Spider-Man costume - Reddick is a misfit. Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes was inked to a four year $36 million contract in the off season that  left many people stunned. Why in the world would Billy Beane give so much money to a guy who has never played a game of baseball in the U.S.? Following a slow start, Cespedes finished the season strong hitting .292, with 23 HRs, and 82 RBIs. Brandon Moss was the biggest key for the A's down the stretch after beginning the season in Triple-A. Moss had 15 HRs in 678 career at bats in five big league seasons with three different teams.  In 265 at bats for Oakland, Moss hit 21 home runs while hitting .291 to go along with 52 RBIs. Free swinger Jonny Gomes contributed big also hitting 18 HRs and 47 RBIs.
Oakland's pitching staff was solid all season long, including rookies Jarrod Parker and Tommy Milone. Parker went 13-8 with 140 Ks, and a 3.47 ERA; Milone went 13-10, had 137 Ks, and a 3.74 ERA. Brandon McCarthy was great starting 18 games, compiling a 8-6 record, 73 Ks, and a 3.24 ERA. McCarthy's season was cut short after taking a line drive to the head off the bat of Erick Aybar on September 5th. Bartolo Colon was a candidate for Comeback player of the Year with a 10-9 record, 91 Ks, and a 3.43 ERA. Colon was shut down for the season after failing a drug test with elevated levels of testosterone, resulting in a 50-game suspension. Closer Grant Balfour might have been the biggest misfit of all on the team. The  Australian native was intimidating on the mound, yelling as he is pitching at himself, the hitter, his catcher, his glove, or anybody or anything nearby. Balfour ended his season with 24 Saves, 72 Ks, a 2.53 ERA, and a 0.92 WHIP in 74.2 innings of work.

5. R.A. Dickey's Emergence - Did you hear about the 37 year old Knuckleballer who is a contender for the NL Cy Young award? That would be R.A. Dickey. Dickey piled up a 20-6 record to go along with a 2.73 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a NL leading 230 Ks. What is so surprising about this is, the road Dickey traveled to get here. Early in his career he discovered that his right arm was missing an ulnar collateral ligament. Dickey then learned to throw the Knuckleball as an effort to keep his career alive. He bounced around three different teams  before joining the New York Mets in 2010.
Dickey was artful through out the course of the season throwing an 83 mph Knuckleball that hitters couldn't get their bat on. Dickey's record in the first half of the season was 12-1 earning him a spot on the NL All Star team and was in contention to start the game. Dickey's memorable first half included  a 11 strikeout performance against the Pirates followed by 10 Ks in his very next start against the Padres. In the two games, Dickey allowed one run in 14.1 innings along with 21 Ks and was named NL Player of the Week. The day after his teammate after teammate Johan Santana threw the first no-hitter in franchise history, Dickey threw a seven-hit complete game shutout. On June 13, Dickey allowed only one hit, had 12 Ks, while facing 29 batters in a 9-1 victory over Tampa Bay. The hit allowed was an infield single hit to David Wright. Wright couldn't field the ball and it was ruled an infield hit. New York appealed looking to get the hit ruled as an error, but MLB denied their appeal. Also in the game, Dickey passed Jerry Koosman's franchise record of 31.2 consecutive scoreless innings pitched.
In his following start, Dickey pitched another one-hit shutout against the Baltimore Orioles, became the first pitcher since 1988 to throw two consecutive one-hitters and the first in the NL since 1944. Dickey's scoreless innings streak came to an end on June 24, 2012, Dickey's streak of consecutive scoreless innings without an earned run came to an end at 44.1 innings against the New York Yankees. Dickey should win the Cy Young award, because he earned every single victory pitching for the offensively challenged Mets. The team finished in the bottom half of all offensive categories with the exception of doubles. Having won 20 of 26 possible decisions shouldn't go unnoticed in the voting. Dickey is on the verge of turning 38 and could sign a contract extension in the coming month.

4. Chipper Jones, Omar Vizquel, and Ben Sheets Retire - 19 years into a first ballot Hall of Fame career passed us by, but did we really appreciate it? Chipper Jones' career ended with a questionable loss to the Cardinals in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Jones' last at bat saw him reach base after jogging down the line and questionably being called safe. That is not how I want to remember Larry Jones' career. I will remember Chipper for everything he did in a Braves uniform. Chipper ended his career with 2,726 Hits, .303 Avg., 468 HRs, and 1,623 RBIs. He also ends his career with one of the most impressive stats in Baseball, Jones drew 1,512 walks compared to 1,409 strikeouts.
Omar Vizquel, a 11-time Gold Glove winner and three time All Star hung up the spikes after a 24-year career. Vizquel broke into the bigs with Seattle in 1989, later playing with Cleveland, San Francisco, Texas, the Chicago White Sox, and finally in Toronto. Vizquel ended his career with one final start at shortstop for his 2,709th game at SS, the most in MLB history. In the seventh inning, he busted out into left field making an over the shoulder catch in gold-glove fashion. His final at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh, and fans cheered and chanted his name as he was at the plate. Vizquel slapped a single up the middle for hit number 2,877 of his career, 39th all-time in baseball. "Little O"ended his career with a .272 Avg., 456 Doubles, 951 RBIs, 1445 Runs, and 404 SBs.
Ben Sheets also called quits taking the mound on the final game of the season for the Braves to cap off an injury plagued 10 year career. Sheets pitched just one inning, striking out two including ending the inning striking out Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen. On July 1, Atlanta announced they inked Sheets to a minor league contract to attempt a comeback to the major leagues. On July 15, Sheets made his first start in nearly two years against the New York Mets, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and fanning five to earn the win. Over the course of 10 injury ridden seasons, Sheets compiled a 94-96 record, with 1,325 Ks, and a 3.78 ERA with Milwaukee, Oakland, and Atlanta.

3. The Year of the No-No - When Cincinnati Homer Bailey threw a No-Hitter on September 28, it was the seventh No-Hitter of 2012. The last time that happened was in 1991. We saw three perfect-games, and a combined No-Hitter by the Seattle Mariners.
Chicago's Phillip Humber got things started on April 21, tossing a perfect-game against the Seattle Mariners. Humber struck out nine batters while only throwing a total of 95 pitches. A couple of weeks later, Anaheim's Jered Weaver threw a no-hitter against the Minnesota Twins on May 2. Weaver also fanned nine batters, but walked one, in a emotional performance in front of his parents and the home crowd. About a month later on June 1, the New York Mets' ace Johan Santana tosses the first no-hitter in franchise history against the potent offense of the St. Louis Cardinals. The southpaw threw a total of 134 pitches, walking five and striking out eight Red Birds.
Seven days later the Seattle Mariners would be on the good side of a no-hitter. The memorable thing about this was it was a combined effort. Six Mariners no hit the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 8. Kevin Millwood pitched six innings only allowing a walk until leaving the game during his seventh inning warm up with a groin injury. Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge, Brandon League, and Tom Wilhelmsen combined with Millwood to throw 114 pitches and tied the record for most pitcher used in a no-no. Five days after, Matt Cain threw a perfect game against the Houston Astros on June 13. Cain was brilliant in his performance mowing down 14 Astros, throwing 86 of his 114 pitches for strikes.
We didn't see another such performance until August 15, when Seattle's Felix Hernandez was perfect against the Tampa Bay Rays. King Felix was masterful against Tampa Bay's lineup piling up 12 strikeouts on 113 pitches. Hernandez was every bit a King and a former Cy Young Award winner courting the Rays in the afternoon matinee. Cincinnati's Homer Bailey tossed the seventh and final no-hitter of the season on September 28 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bailey continued the double-digit strikeout trend with 10 Ks on 115 pitches and walked one batter.
If history repeats itself, next year seven pitchers will also throw no-hitters and two will be combined efforts. In 1990 there were a total of seven no-hitters with one combined no-no, the following year seven were also thrown with two being combined efforts. Do we have any takers?

2. The Phenoms, Mike Trout and Bryce Harper - April 28, 2012. The MLB would be turned upside down as two rookies would make their debuts. Washington's 19 year old Bryce Harper, was making his MLB debut and Anaheim's Mike Trout,20, would make his season debut. We knew we were going to witness something special. But we didn't envision what these two phenoms would eventually do in their rookie seasons.
Harper recorded his first hit in his third at bat, hitting a double against the Dodgers Chad Billingsley. Harper found himself in other types of headlines a week later when he was hit by Philadelphia's ace Cole Hamels. Harper would then go on to steal home after reaching third base. Hamels then admitted after the game that he intentionally hit Harper and was given a five game suspension. A week later Harper hit his first home run against San Diego's Tim Stauffer. Harper made the All Star team after Miami's Giancarlo Stanton was forced to miss the game with an injury. Harper's production hit a snag in the "Dog Days of Summer". He hit a mere .176 ultimately being benched by Davey Johnson. Harper would then start to heat up. On August 29, Harper would hit two HRs, then would be ejected in the ninth inning of the game for slamming his helmet on the ground after grounding into an inning ending double play. Harper would go on to finish his season hitting .270 along with 22 HRs, 59 RBIs, 98 Runs, and 18 SBs, cementing his Rookie of the Year campaign. Harper became the first player since Boston's Tony Conigliaro to hit 20 HRs under the age of 20. Those that know of Conigliaro know that Harper's potential to be an all time great in this game is looking pretty good.
And then there was Trout. In a nutshell, Trout became the first ever player in the AL's illustrious history to win the Rookie of the Month award and Player of the Month award in the same month when he did it in July. Trout hit .392, with 10 HRs, six doubles, two triples, 23 RBIs, 32 Runs and SB in 25 games in July. I can go on and on about Trout's accomplishments in which he was the first ever player to do so or the first player in quite some time to do so. The most significant was becoming the first rookie to drive in at least 55 RBIs and score 80 runs in 81 games since Joe DiMaggio did it in 1936. Joe DiMaggio! Trout ended his season with a .326 AVG., 30 HRs, 27 Doubles, eight Triples, 83 RBIs, 129 Runs, and 49 SB. His 129 Runs set a franchise record for most runs scored in a season passing Vladimir Guerrero's 124 Runs. Trout's incredible season was badly timed as some guy named Miguel Cabrera won the first Triple Crown since 1967. Had not for Cabrera's Triple Crown, Trout would be a runaway for the 2012 AL MVP.

1. Miguel Cabrera's Triple Crown - Detroit's Miguel Cabrera season was historic and exciting to watch in every sense. Cabrera's season began with a broken orbital bone. After the signing of first baseman Prince Fielder, Cabrera voluntarily moved back to playing third base.During a spring training game, Cabrera was below his right eye by a grounder which would break a bone. Cabrera was expected to be ready by opening day, and was the starting third baseman for the Tigers to start the season. Miggy was named to the All Star team as a reserve for the seventh time in his career. On July 22, Cabrera hit his 300th HR, becoming the second Venezuelan to reach the mark - Andres Galarraga hit 399. Miggy was awarded the American League Player of the Month in August. Cabrera batted .357 with eight HRs, six doubles, 24 RBIs, and 19 Runs in 26 games.
Cabrera solidified the MVP award when the slugger won the first Triple Crown since Boston's Carl Yastrzemski did it in 1967. Cabrera became the 15th player in history to win baseball's elusive Triple Crown, joining all-time greats such as Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, and Ted Williams. Cabrera topped the AL with a .330 AVG., 44 HRs and 139 RBIs. Many have come close, until ultimately losing in the final weeks of the season. Just last season Matt Kemp was a a couple batting average points behind Jose Reyes to win the Triple Crown.
What Miggy did this season was amazing and historic. How much longer will we have to wait to see another Triple Crown season? As time passes and we don't see another winner, we will be reassured just how big and historical winning the Triple Crown really is. Many people make the argument that Mike Trout deserves the MVP, and deservingly so. But you can't use the "what if Trout played the whole season" reason, because you never know what could have happened, good or bad. What Cabrera did is something we haven't seen in 45 years, what Trout did is something we haven't seen since..... Never mind  I'll end this now before I start contradicting myself and convince myself maybe Trout deserves the MVP.

NFL Week 4 Power Rankings

1) Houston Texans (4-0) Previous Rank 1 - The undefeated Texans have made it through another week displaying why they are the best team in football. Their offense is rolling and their defense is holding their own. In a absolute performance of dominance over Tennessee
this past Sunday, the Texans offense showed complete control with a balanced attack. The Texans' defense forced a fumble and two interceptions, returning both of them for touchdowns. They face a struggling Jets team this coming Monday night and are ready to show the world why they are for real this season.

2) Atlanta Falcons (4-0) Previous Rank 2 - They pulled it off this past Sunday, it's another win for the Falcons, regardless of how much the game seemed like a loss. Cam Newton stood on the sideline and watched Matt Ryan complete just three passes to get the Falcons setup for a Matt Bryant 40-yard game winning field goal. Falcons should consider themselves fortunate for beating the struggling Carolina Panthers as they gave up a 24-14 lead. Attlanta face RG3 in Washington this week.

3) Arizona Cardinals (4-0) Previous Rank 3 - Arizona gets another win even though they
gave up 480 total yards. They were able to force four turnovers and come back in the fourth quarter to force overtime. The Cardinals aren't exactly rolling over the competition, my best explanation for the 4-0 start is that they just find a way to win. How long can they can keep this up? Your guess is as good as mine.

4) San Francisco 49ers (3-1) Previous Rank 5 - They completely shutdown the Jets this
past sunday. Embarrassed Mark Sanchez (only a QBR of 2.8) and held the Jets to 45
total rushing yards. Their defense is either that good or the Jets are really that bad.
Alex Smith didn’t need to contribute too much as nine different players combined for a total of 245 rushing yards. At one point it felt as if the 49ers where running all their trick plays in a practice situation. That's how much control they had over the Jets.

5) Baltimore Ravens (3-1) Previous Rank 4 - Joe Flacco now has thrown for over 300 yards in three consecutive games. Baltimore's offense continues to look productive, but their defense continues to show small signs of decline — only one sack this past week — and allowed rookie Brandon Weeden to throw for 320 yards. Im only nit picking Baltimore at this point, overall they look solid and are still a very hard hitting bunch. The Ravens face a demoralized Kansas City Chiefs this week and look to improve their record to 4-1.

6) Philadelphia Eagles (3-1) Previous Rank 7 - This is my benefit of the doubt team — Jose thinks they should be ranked higher, but he is a jackass and this is my Power Rankings. They are 3-1 and have pulled out every victory by a margin of 1.33 points. In any of their games do they seem in control but yet they play as if they are going to win. By far the strangest team to watch this season. The Eagles rank in the top 10 in passing, rushing, and defensive passing yards allowed — And rank 12th in defensive rushing yards allowed. Most impressive is the team's offensive line during rushing plays, they provide plenty of holes for LeSean McCoy to explode around or through. They had zero turnovers this week against the New York Giants, taking good care of the ball and will need to do the same as they head into Pittsburgh this Sunday.

7) Green Bay Packers (2-2) Previous Rank 8 - Aaron Rodgers picks up his first four touchdown game of the season as he and Drew Brees had a shootout this past Sunday. The Packers offensive weapons are clearly there and are beginning to click, facing the Colts this week should help get them above .500.

8) New York Giants (2-2) Previous Rank 6 - The Giants fell short this past Sunday, literally. Missing a 45-yard field goal in the final seconds and Eli Manning threw a red-zone interception to start the 4th qtr. Those two key self inflicting wounds is what cost the Giants the game and some ground to their rival Philadelphia Eagles. They host the Cleveland Browns this week and will need a crucial victory to avoid losing anymore ground in the NFC East.

9) New England Patriots (2-2) Previous Rank 9 - They lit up Buffalo for 52 points, 31 of them in the 4th quarter alone. New England’s offense was sizzling as Tom Brady passed for 340 yards and three TDs. Running backs Brandon Bolden and Stevan Ridley both rushed for over 100 yards and combined for 3 TDs. New England hosts Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos this week as what looks to be a promising shootout.

10) Chicago Bears (3-1) Previous Rank 12 - The Bears are now 3-1 after picking off Romo five times. Chicago has gained some confidence. Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall connected for some big plays, 138 yards and a TD for Marshall. Definitely a statement game for the Bears
especially to do it on the road in Dallas. They head to Jacksonville this Sunday to face the struggling Jaguars.

11) San Diego Chargers (3-1) Previous Rank 14 - San Diego’s defense forced six turnovers this week and carried the Chargers to a easy victory this past Sunday. The offense still has yet to prove that it has enough weapons to take control of the AFC West. San Diego now travels
to New Orleans to face a pissed off Saints team that is just looking for a team to trample over. Good luck Phillip Rivers, you're gonna need it.

12) Denver Broncos (2-2) Previous Rank 15 - Peyton Manning’s arm looked great this weekend, he was throwing darts, every pass had plenty of zip on it, and at the expense of the Raiders awful secondary - Manning and the Broncos got the tune up game they needed. Now that they've got some kinks out of the way, Manning and the Broncos head to face Manning's old buddy in New England, you might know him, Tom Brady.

13) Cincinnati Bengals (3-1) Previous Rank 17 - Riding a three game winning streak, the Bengals now look to keep the ball rolling as they host the Dolphins on Sunday. Andy Dalton finishes the first quarter of the season with 1,111 yards, eight TDs, and a QBR of 78.3. Wide Receiver A.J. Green now has 428 yards and three touchdowns. The Bengals couldn't have asked for a better start to their season.

14) Minnesota Vikings (3-1) Previous Rank 23 - Moving up 9 spots this week, the Vikings did enough for me to give them the biggest leap of improvement as they now have a 3-1 record. Minnesota has been stopping the run ranking 7th in rushing yards allowed. One thing that must be pointed out is that Christian Ponder seems to be getting worse as the season progress, yardage and completion percentage has come down significantly from week 1. Adrian Peterson’s contribution will clearly determine how far the Vikings can go.

15) Washington Redskins (2-2) Previous Rank 22 - Unable to defend the big play and unable to hold on to leads, the Redskins finish the first quarter of the season ranked first overall in rushing yards at a impressive 175.5 yards per game. RG3 is exceeding expectations for a Rookie at 1,070 yards and eight total TDs. If his defense can step it up, Washington can be a serious contender in the NFC East. They host Atlanta this week and if RG3 can survive a shootout with Matt Ryan, I will start to believe the RG3 is for real chants.

16) Pittsburgh Steelers (1-2) Previous Rank 16 - Coming off a much needed bye-week, the Steelers now expect Troy Polamalu, James Harrison and the much needed Rashard Mendenhall’s return. Three aging stars return and the Steelers can only hope that they can contribute enough to get them a win as they host the Philadelphia Eagles.
 *Editor's note - Philly wins by 10*

17) Dallas Cowboys (2-2) Previous Rank 10 - If I could give a #TheStupidSanchez award to Tony Romo I would. What the hell? It's my power rankings. Tony Romo you have earned a #TheStupidSanchez award. Dallas looked terrible on both sides of the ball on Monday night. Giving up big plays to Jay Cutler. Really? It's only Jay Cutler. Romo threw five interceptions, not even Dallas fans could come up with that many excuses for this loss. Enough picking on the Cowboys, I’m sure Jerry Jones is looking into pulling Brett Favre out of retirement to save the Cowboys season.
*Editor's note - #TheStupidSanchez is an award created during our fantasy basketball season. Jose Sanchez, the dumbass of our league, had Pau Gasol on the bench as he recorded a triple-double. That night, we created #TheStupidSanchez award and it has been a staple of our fantasy sports since it's creation.

18) Seattle Seahawks (2-2) Previous Rank 13 - Replacement refs are long gone and now the Seahawks must figure out legitimate ways to earn points - their dead last passing attack isn’t gonna cut it. They travel to Carolina this week and will need to do everything they can to keep Cam Newton and the Panthers out of the end-zone.

19) St. Louis Rams (2-2) Previous Rank 25 - The Rams got a much needed victory over Seattle to get themselves back to .500 and will host the 4-0 Arizona Cardinals. Sam Bradford’s QBR of 37.2 after four games is not very impressive. For now it's a work in progress in St. Louis.

20) Detroit Lions (1-3) Previous Rank 18 - Dropping three straight, the Lions rank first in passing yards but can’t seem to find the end-zone. They are definitely a 20/20 team meaning they play great in between the 20-yard marks. They have the weapons and with the bye week coming up, the Lions will need to look at what's going wrong offensively and come back strong as they will travel to Philadelphia in Week-6.
*Editor's note - Philly is going to tap that ass :)

21) Buffalo Bills (2-2) Previous Rank 19 - Giving up an astonishing 52 points to New England this past Sunday, the BIlls' defense was picked apart and left for dead. Buffalo now travels to San Francisco. The Bills are suffering from injuries and will now face a relentless hard hitting 49ers defense. Buffalo’s defense now ranks 23rd in passing yards allowed and 28th in rushing yards allowed.

22) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-3) Previous Rank 21 - Out of all the 1-3 teams Tampa Bay should be the only ones to hold their heads up high as they have been competitive in every game thus far. They have a bye week coming up before they host Kansas City. Two weeks to prepare for the Chiefs should be plenty. Note Josh Freeman has a QBR of 33.1.

23) Carolina Panthers (1-3) Precious Rank 24 - Even with another loss, I'm moving the Panthers up a spot. Not because they deserve it but because I'm gonna destroy the Jets in this weeks power rankings. Cam Newton has 167 rushing yards and so does DeAngelo Williams. Steve Smith still is the only one producing on a weekly basis. Carolina's defense is awful and unable to stop anybody. The Panthers now find themselves in a bit of a hole.

24) New York Jets (2-2) Previous Rank 11 - Its official Tebow-Mania is just weeks away and the implosion of the New York Jets will begin. Mark Sanchez in his past three games: 44-of-101 (43.5 percent) for 547 yards passing. QBR(2.8) against the 49ers this past week. The 49ers exposed the Jets for what they are, a team with no offensive weapons and a defense that is beginning to decline. A positive for the Jets - Rex Ryan seems to have lost some weight.

25) Miami Dolphins (1-3) Previous Rank 27 - Ryan Tannehill coming off a big game of 431 passing yards and one TD. Last week I couldn't name a Dolphins wide receiver but I can now. Brian Hartline had a 12 reception, 253 yard monster game this past week. Aside from the extraordinary statistics this past week the Dolphins still lost. The Dolphins travel to Cincinnati this week looking to bounce back after the tough loss.

26) Tennessee Titans (1-3) Previous Rank 29 - I knew Chris Johnson would do this to me. I knew he was gonna have a good game only to sucker me into starting him again this week. They face a stingy rushing defense in Minnesota this week. The Titans have offensive problems but at least now have Matt Hasselbeck  at QB which could be a bit of an improvement over Jake Locker.

27) New Orleans Saints (0-4) Previous Rank 28 - Another weird loss for the Saints. It's not looking good for New Orleans' season who are four games back. They will need to come out strong and win four straight just to get back to .500. Drew Brees had his best game this past week but it's still not enough as the Saints defense is giving up huge plays and a ridiculous amount of yardage.

28) Kansas City Chiefs (1-3)  Previous Rank 26 - Jamaal Charles contributed enough for a win but Matt Cassel threw the game away. Cassel now ranks 32 among all QBs and there is no better option for the Chiefs right now.

29) Oakland Raiders (1-3) Previous Rank 20 - Peyton Manning ripped them apart, who's next in line to have their way with the weak secondary of Oakland? Oh! It's Matt Ryan and the Falcons. The Raiders get a bye this week and will have to come up with a game plan to put some points up and stop Matt Ryan from lighting them up. Oakland ranks dead last in rushing offense and have one of the worst defenses ranking in the 20's in both passing and rushing categories.

30) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3) Previous Rank 30 - Unable to get anything going offensively against Cincinnati this past Sunday, the Jaguars find themselves without any weapons in the passing game. It doesn't get any easier for them as now they face the Chicago Bears.

31) Indianapolis Colts (1-2) Previous Rank 31 - Hopefully the Colts have come up with a way to slow down Mr. "Discount Double Check" Aaron Rodgers and his high powered Packers Offense. Andrew Luck is under a microscope this season. Being highly praised coming in as a rookie doesn't have it's rewards as every pass thrown is analyzed and every loss is easily put on him.

32) Cleveland Browns (0-4) Previous Rank 32 - As predicted another loss for the Browns and now face a the Giants who are coming off a tough loss. It's a long season in Cleveland for sure. Brandon Weeden now has a QBR of 10.1 for the season. No receiver has cracked the 200 yards receiving mark yet. There's always next year, Browns fans.
